What Fiscal Sponsorship Means

Fiscal sponsorship allows a project to raise funds under the 501(c)(3) status of UAPSS while building its own initiative.

Donations are made directly to UAPSS and are tax-deductible. UAPSS provides oversight, financial management, and compliance support to ensure funds are used for charitable purposes.

Who It's For

Projects we support may include:

• Recovery initiatives
• Peer-led programs
• Community wellness events
• Harm reduction projects
• Recovery arts and storytelling
• Educational initiatives
• Community outreach programs

What UAPSS Provides

Through fiscal sponsorship UAPSS provides:

• Ability to receive tax-deductible donations
• Financial oversight and compliance
• Donation processing and receipts
• Administrative support
• Credibility under an established nonprofit
• Guidance for project development

UAPSS retains a 15% administrative fee from all donations received through fiscal sponsorship. This supports financial management, compliance oversight, and nonprofit operations.

Project Requirements

Projects must:

• Align with the mission of UAPSS
• Serve a charitable purpose
• Use funds for approved project activities
• Submit basic documentation of expenses

Project Eligibility

UAPSS offers fiscal sponsorship for projects that advance recovery, peer support, and community wellness. To ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, certain types of projects are not eligible for fiscal sponsorship.

UAPSS generally cannot sponsor:

• Projects intended primarily to support an individual’s personal financial needs.
• Political campaigns or partisan activities.
• For-profit business ventures or activities that do not serve a clear charitable purpose.

Projects must demonstrate a clear public benefit and align with the mission of UAPSS.

“UAPSS reserves the right to approve or decline fiscal sponsorship requests based on mission alignment, capacity, and compliance considerations.”
